Neville Brody

Neville Brody is an english graphic designer who has been in the business since 1980. In 1976, Brody attended The London College of Printing and got his B.S. in Graphics. He began working on designing album covers but first made a name for himself while being an art director for The Face magazine. Most of his designs are typographic in nature and exert a lot of energy. His work is exciting and very detailing making his style stand out.

Below are the movie poster’s Brody did for Oceans 11 and 12. Both posters are unified by the colors and styles of the almost silhouette figures. They have an epic yet sleek feel to them. The use of just shades of black, white and red was very effective in creating a style to fit the movies. Personally, I feel the poster for Oceans 12 has better composition. There is more movement with the figures in walking position and it forces my eyes to move around the image more.

This is an advertisement for Nike shoes. Specifically basketball shoes which makes perfect sense because the composition is so bouncy. Coincidentally it is a similar color pallet to the previous example but again it works. The use of breaking the grid and turning the words into different position gives it the jumping around feel the design needs. It also has a ton of contrast between the different sized type and the black and white words.
